The Church of St. Andrew the Apostle draws worshippers from all around the greater Hartford area, and especially from Rocky Hill and its surrounding towns.  A number of parishioners travel even farther to be part of our loving family.  We have nearly 400 members, with over 150 pledging households and 72 children enrolled in our Sunday school.

We host a variety of programs and activities for all ages that offer our members many ministries. Some are listed on the back, along with the persons you can contact if you’d like to join.  Some of our most popular ministries are Youth Education and Community Outreach.  We love helping our children grow into Christian adults and offer an active Sunday school and senior and Junior Youth Groups.  Many parishioners join in our Community Outreach, featuring our Field of Dreams garden where we grow tons of food each year for area soup kitchens.

For the past few years, The Church of St. Andrew the Apostle has been one of the fastest growing Episcopal parishes in the state.  We must be doing something right!  We hope you have the chance to experience it for yourself.

Parish History

Our church was conceived on April 6, 1960, when eleven men and women met with then Reverend Edward H. Cook and agreed to start a Mission in Rocky Hill, originally called "Grace Church".  A canvass was conducted throughout the town, and on May 8, 1960, nearly 100 men, women and children gathered for services held in the Stevens School cafeteria.  The name was soon changed to The Church of St. Andrew the Apostle.

The driving force of the founders was their commitment to the belief that their church would exist, regardless of whether they had a building or not.  They felt that people should worship and serve the Lord together wherever they are.  Although today we have a beautiful church building that original belief and spirit lives on.  Fellowship has marked the Church of St. Andrew the Apostle since its beginning and the intense sense of family shared by its members that crosses all physical boundaries thrives.  To read a more Complete History.

Worshipping With Us

If you are visiting the Rocky Hill area, we hope you will join us on Sundays and other holy days.  If you are new to the area or just looking for a church home in this area, we hope you will consider The Church of Saint Andrew the Apostle.  If you would like our prayers, a visit from the Rector or a member of the parish, more information on activities, or a copy of our newsletter, The Messenger, please fill out a Newcomers Card.  You’ll find one conveniently located in each pew or at the back of the church.

All are welcome to join us at The Church of St. Andrew the Apostle and to receive the Eucharist.  If you are baptized, you are already a member of the Church, the Body of Christ.  However, "joining the church" can also mean belonging to a particular denomination or parish.

If you are baptized and wish to become an Episcopalian, you may be confirmed in the Episcopal Church.  The Bishop administers confirmation.  Persons who have been confirmed in other Catholic tradition churches are received by the Bishop into the Episcopal Church.  If you or someone in your family wishes to be baptized or confirmed, please contact the rector.

Current members of other Episcopal parishes wishing to join our congregation need only transfer their letter of membership from their previous parish to The Church of St. Andrew the Apostle.
