2/24/25 For the Sake of Others

Takeaway: Using our influence to bless others.

“Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” — Philippians 2:3-4

Opening Prayer

Heavenly Father, as I come before You today, open my heart to Your truth. Speak to me through Your Word and strengthen my faith. Help me to trust in Your guidance, find peace in Your presence, and walk in Your ways. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Reflection

We live in a world that often promotes self-promotion, personal success, and looking out for ourselves first. Yet, in Philippians 2:3-4, Paul calls us to a radically different way of living—one rooted in humility and selflessness. Instead of seeking our own interests, we are called to put the needs of others before our own. This doesn’t mean neglecting ourselves, but rather using our gifts, influence, and opportunities to be a blessing to those around us.

Jesus is the ultimate example of this kind of selfless living. Though He was God, He humbled Himself, taking on human form and sacrificing His life for our salvation. His life was not about gaining power or recognition, but about serving, healing, and ultimately giving His life for the sake of others.

No matter where we are—at work, in our families, in our communities, or in ministry—we have influence.

Influence is not about having a title or position; it’s about the way we live and the impact we make on others. Every word we speak, every act of kindness, every decision we make can either lift others up or serve ourselves. When we follow Christ’s example of humility, we shift our focus from What can I gain? to How can I serve?

Imagine how different our relationships, workplaces, and communities would be if we approached every interaction with the mindset of blessing others. What if we encouraged instead of competed? What if we listened more than we spoke? What if we sought the good of others rather than simply looking out for ourselves? This is the heart of Christ-like living—a life poured out for the sake of others.

Application

• Look for Small Acts of Service - Small actions reflect Christ’s love.

• Celebrate Others’ Success – Instead of competing, cheer others on when they succeed.

• Listen More, Speak Less – Sometimes, the greatest way to serve someone is simply by listening.

Closing Prayer

Lord, help me to live not for myself, but for the sake of others. Teach me to walk in humility, to see the needs around me, and to use my influence to bless and serve. May my life reflect Your love, and may my actions point others to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
