Takeaway: Acting when God calls.
“Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.” — Colossians 4:5-6
Opening Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for this new day and for the opportunity to draw near to You. Open my heart and mind as I reflect on Your Word. Help me to recognize the moments You place before me and to act with wisdom, grace, and courage. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Reflection
Life presents us with countless opportunities—moments to encourage, to share our faith, to show kindness, and to be a light in a world that desperately needs God’s love. But too often, we hesitate. We delay, unsure of what to say or do, and the moment slips away. Paul’s words in Colossians 4:5-6 remind us of the importance of acting wisely and making the most of every opportunity, especially when it comes to sharing Christ with others.
Paul is writing to believers in Colossae, urging them to be mindful of their interactions with those outside the faith. He emphasizes two key things: wisdom in action and grace in speech. Both are essential for seizing the moments God places before us. Wisdom in action is living in a way the reflects Christ’s love and truth. While grace is speech is speaking with kindness, truth and love bring people together.
God provides us with opportunities daily—whether in conversations with a coworker, an unexpected encounter with a stranger, or moments with a struggling friend. The question is: Will we recognize these moments and act on them?
Application
• Use Your Words Wisely - When given the chance to speak, choose words that are “full of grace, seasoned with salt.”
• Trust the Holy Spirit’s Leading - Trust that He will equip you in the moment.
• Follow Through When Prompted - Acting promptly shows faithfulness to God’s prompting.
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father, open my eyes to the opportunities You place before me. Give me wisdom to act, grace to speak, and courage to respond when You call. May my life and words reflect Your love, drawing others closer to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
