Takeaway: Living in the freedom Christ has given.
“We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.” — Romans 6:4
Opening Prayer (Wednesday)
Father, in the middle of this week, I lean on You for strength. When I am weary, be my rest. When I am uncertain, be my guide. Refresh my soul as I draw near to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Reflection
When we come to Christ, we are not just given a second chance; we are given a completely new life. Paul’s words in Romans 6:4 remind us that our old selves—defined by sin, shame, and separation from God—have been buried with Christ. And just as Jesus was raised from the dead, we too have been raised into a new way of living.
But what does it mean to “walk in newness of life”? It means living each day in the freedom Christ has given us, no longer bound by the power of sin. It means embracing our new identity as children of God, trusting that His grace has completely transformed us. Too often, we still live as if we are enslaved to our past mistakes, fears, and failures. But the truth of the gospel is this: we have been set free!
New life in Christ is not just about avoiding sin—it’s about stepping into the fullness of God’s plan for us. It’s about pursuing righteousness, growing in faith, and living with the confidence that we are deeply loved and empowered by His Spirit.
Question
Do you struggle with believing that God’s grace has completely transformed you? How can you remind yourself of the truth of your new life in Christ?
Application
• Let Go of the Old. What parts of your past still hold you back? Identify areas where you need to embrace God’s freedom.
• Walk in Confidence. You are no longer defined by sin but by God’s grace. Live each day with the assurance that you are made new.
• Pursue Holiness. Walking in newness of life means seeking God daily, allowing His Spirit to shape your thoughts, actions, and desires.
Closing Prayer
Lord, thank You for giving me new life in Christ. Help me to walk in the freedom You have provided, leaving behind the weight of my past and stepping fully into the future You have for me. Teach me to trust in Your grace and to live in the joy of my salvation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
