Takeaway: As we walk in step with the Spirit, our faithful lives begin to reflect the character of Christ through lasting spiritual fruit.
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” — Galatians 5:22-23
Opening Prayer (Tuesday)
Lord, I come before You seeking wisdom and clarity. Help me to discern Your will and make choices that honor You. Open my heart to Your truth as I spend time with You today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Reflection
Paul’s words in Galatians 5:22–23 paint an image of what our life looks like when it is fully in rhythm with the Holy Spirit. The fruit of the Spirit is not something we develop through sheer willpower. Rather, it is the evidence of Christ’s life taking root within us. Just as fruit on a tree reveals the health of the tree, so the fruit of the Spirit reveals whether our lives are truly abiding in God’s presence.
During stewardship season, it can be tempting to think of our giving in purely practical terms: budgets, weekly envelops, and obligation. But stewardship, when seen through the lens of the Spirit’s fruit, becomes far more. It becomes a visible testimony of God’s character at work within us. Love compels us to care for the needs of others. Joy frees us to give with gladness rather than reluctance. Peace anchors us when financial fears whisper that we do not have enough. Patience teaches us to trust God’s timing and provision. Kindness and goodness lead us to use our resources in ways that bless others. Faithfulness sustains our commitments even when it is difficult. Gentleness reminds us that our giving should be an offering of humility rather than pride. And self-control enables us to resist the pull of greed or selfishness, redirecting our treasures toward God’s kingdom.
When the fruit of the Spirit is cultivated in our lives, stewardship becomes about overflow. We begin to see that our time, talent, and treasure are not possessions to hold on to but gifts entrusted to us to give away for God’s glory. And the beauty of this fruit is that it multiplies; our love encourages love in others, our faithfulness strengthens the faith of the community, and our joy becomes contagious. In this way, stewardship also becomes a ministry that shapes a community whose lives reflect the character of Jesus.
During this season of stewardship, ask yourself,“What fruit is the Spirit producing in me?” To walk in step with the Spirit is to allow our giving to be an expression of love, joy, peace, and all the qualities that reflect Christ’s likeness. Let your stewardship be a living testimony that the Spirit abides in you, and may the fruit you bear extend beyond the offering plate into lives that are transformed and communities that are renewed by God’s grace.
Questions
Which fruit of the Spirit do you see most clearly reflected in your life right now? Which one feels harder to cultivate?
How might fear, pride, or selfishness be hindering you from offering your best back to God?
Application
Choose one attribute of the fruit of the Spirit to intentionally practice in your stewardship. For example, give with joy by expressing gratitude as you offer your resources, or show faithfulness by renewing a commitment to serve regularly. Reframe your giving not as something God takes from you, but as a way for God’s Spirit to flow into your church and community.
Closing Prayer
Holy Spirit, thank You for the fruit You grow in my life when I walk in step with You. Keep me rooted in Your presence so that my love, joy, and faithfulness may be evident in all I do. Teach me to see stewardship as overflow in reflecting Christ’s character and blessing others. May my giving bear fruit that lasts. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
