10/22/25 Using Our Gifts for God’s Glory

Takeaway: God calls each believer to faithfully use their gifts for the good of others.

“Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received. Whoever speaks must do so as one speaking the very words of God; whoever serves must do so with the strength that God supplies, so that God may be glorified in all things through Jesus Christ.” — 1 Peter 4:10–11

Opening Prayer (Wednesday)

Father, in the middle of this week, I lean on You for strength. When I am weary, be my rest. When I am uncertain, be my guide. Refresh my soul as I draw near to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Reflection

At the heart of Christian stewardship is the truth that everything we have is a gift from God, and that each gift is for the betterment of others. Peter remind us that stewardship is not limited to our financial resources; stewardship encompasses all of our spiritual gifts. Every ability we possess, every moment we are given, and every opportunity before us is a gift to share. We are not owners, but caretakers of God’s abundant grace.

When Peter urges believers to “serve one another,” he paints a picture of the Church as a living, breathing organism, sustained by mutual care. Each member contributes something vital to the whole. The gift of teaching, when exercised faithfully, builds up understanding and faith; the gift of hospitality creates space for others to encounter God’s love; the gift of administration brings order and direction to communal life; the gift of compassion brings healing to the weary. No gift is too small or insignificant when it is offered in the name of Christ. In fact, the very diversity of our gifts reflects “the manifold grace of God.”

During stewardship season, we often focus on giving back to God through financial generosity. Yet Peter invites us to see stewardship as a way of living, not just a season of giving. The question is not simply, “How much should I give?” but “How can I offer my whole life for God’s glory?” When we understand our gifts as channels of divine grace, generosity becomes a joyful response rather than an obligation. Every act of faithful service becomes an act of worship.

In this light, our stewardship becomes a doxology: a living praise to the One who has given us everything. When the church uses its gifts faithfully, God’s glory shines through its people. The world catches glimpses of grace through our service, compassion, creativity, and generosity. As we offer our gifts, God’s abundance flows through us to others, and His glory is made visible in and through the community of faith.

Questions

What gifts or abilities has God entrusted to you for the good of others?

In your faith community, where do you see different gifts working together to reveal God’s glory?

Application

Take time to identify one way you can intentionally use your God-given gifts for the good of others. Pray that through your gift, someone might glimpse God’s grace. Consider also reflecting on your place within the body of Christ. Stewardship is most powerful when practiced together, as a community that channels God’s abundance into the world.

Closing Prayer

Gracious Giver, You have entrusted me with gifts too numerous to count. Teach me to be a faithful steward of Your manifold grace. May my service reflect Your generosity, my words reveal Your compassion, and my life proclaim Your glory. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
