Takeaway: Miracles unfold when we move forward in bold faith, trusting God to part the waters before us.
“Now the priests bearing the ark of the covenant of the Lord stood firmly on dry ground in the midst of the Jordan, and all Israel was passing over on dry ground until all the nation finished passing over the Jordan.” — Joshua 3:17
Opening Prayer
Lord, as I stand before the unknown, strengthen my heart to step forward in faith. Help me to trust that You go before me and make a way, even when I cannot see the path. Amen.
Reflection
There are moments in life when God calls us to move forward before the way is clear. That’s where the people of Israel found themselves in Joshua 3. They stood at the edge of the Jordan River, a wide, rushing current separating them from the long-awaited Promised Land. The people had waited forty years for this moment, but what lay before them looked impossible. The river was at flood stage, deep and dangerous. Yet God’s instruction to Joshua was clear: the priests carrying the Ark of the Covenant were to step into the water first. Only after their feet touched the river would God part the waters. The promise was certain, but the proof required faith.
What makes this story so powerful is the sequence: faith before divine action. The priests didn’t wait for the waters to part before stepping in. They stepped in, and only then did the waters part. God’s power was revealed on the other side of trust. This pattern still holds true for us today. We often long for assurance before we act, for certainty before we commit. But God invites us to walk by faith, not by sight. He calls us to trust the outcome before we are certain of it. Bold faith begins where human understanding ends.
In seasons of uncertainty, when the future feels unpredictable, God still calls His people to take the first step. It may be a step toward forgiveness, a decision to trust when you’d rather retreat, or an act of faith when fear whispers that it’s too risky. Faith doesn’t remove the uncertainty; it removes the fear of it, believing that God is faithful to finish what He has begun.
If you’re standing at the edge of your own “Jordan River,” don’t wait for the waters to part before you move. Step forward with courage. Trust that the same God who held back the Jordan holds your life in His hands. The miracle you’re waiting for may be waiting for you to take that step.

Closing Prayer
Faithful God, thank You for being the One who makes a way where there seems to be none. Give me the courage to take bold steps of faith even when I can’t see the full picture. Teach me to trust Your timing and to walk in faith. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
