Takeaway: Approaching God with boldness.

“Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” — Hebrews 4:16

Opening Prayer (Friday)

God, as this week comes to a close, I ask for endurance to finish strong. Keep my heart steadfast, my mind focused on You, and my spirit at peace in Your presence. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Reflection

So often, we come to God in prayer with hesitation—unsure if we’re worthy, if He’s listening, or if He’ll answer the way we hope. But Hebrews 4:16 offers a bold invitation: come confidently. Not timidly. Not cautiously. Not shamefully. Come boldly.

This confidence isn’t based on how perfect our prayers sound or how righteous we feel. It’s rooted in Jesus—the One who sympathizes with our weaknesses and opens the way for us to stand before God without fear. Through Him, the throne of judgment has become the throne of grace.

When we approach God with confidence, we’re acknowledging that we belong to Him—that we are known, loved, and welcomed. We don’t have to perform or pretend. We come as we are, trusting that God meets us with mercy and grace, especially in our times of need.

Prayer, then, becomes less about formality and more about intimacy. So we pray with honesty, boldness, and expectation, knowing we’re not intruding on God, but instead we’re invited by Him.

Question

What keeps you from praying with confidence?

Application

Identify one specific need or burden you’ve been hesitant to bring to God. Today, take five intentional minutes to approach His throne in bold, honest prayer—trusting Him to meet you with mercy and grace. Write it down as a reminder of your confidence in Christ.

Concluding Prayer

Gracious God, thank You that I can come to You just as I am. Help me to pray with boldness, not because of anything I’ve done, but because of what Christ has done for me. Remind me that Your throne is a place of mercy, not judgment. Give me the confidence to bring my needs, fears, and hopes to You—trusting that You hear and respond with grace. Amen.
