Takeaway: Jesus Christ, is eternally worthy of all power, honor, and praise, and our lives should reflect His supreme lordship.
“And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying, ‘To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!’” — Revelation 5:13
Opening Prayer (Monday)
Heavenly Father, as a new week begins, I seek Your presence. Fill me with Your Spirit, renew my mind, and guide my steps. May I walk in faith and purpose today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Reflection
The vision in Revelation 5 pulls back the curtain of heaven and reveals a reality that is often obscured by the chaos and suffering of our world. Jesus Christ, the Lamb who was slain, is now crowned with glory and honored above all. In this majestic scene, the Apostle John witnesses the throne room of God, where countless angels, living creatures, and elders erupt in worship, declaring with one voice: “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!” (v.12). This is not mere poetic imagery, it reveals the unshakable truth of our universe. The One who humbled Himself unto death, who bore our sins in weakness and silence, is now exalted forever. He is no longer despised and rejected, but glorified, enthroned, and celebrated by heaven and earth.
Too often, our view of Jesus remains earthbound, limited to His life in flesh, His suffering, His humility, and or course His death. Yet, our understanding stops with His resurrection. We are grateful for His cross, but we forget His crown. We speak of His love, but ignore His lordship. But Revelation 5 confronts us with a Jesus who is not just our Redeemer, but also our King. The Lamb who gave His life is now seated in supreme authority, and every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea join in thunderous praise. This is the Jesus we are called to worship; not the weak and dying figurehead we so often see on the cross, but the victorious Christ who reigns in glory, and who alone is worthy of all honor.
Honoring the exalted Jesus means more than singing songs or offering words of praise, it means aligning our lives with His majesty. If He is truly crowned with glory, then our willingness to follow is not optional. Our reverence should not be half-hearted. It means living each day aware that every decision, relationship, and ambition falls under His rule. In a world that exalts self-expression and individual freedom, this kind of worship is radically foreign. But it is the only fitting response to the One whom heaven never stops praising.
In Revelation 5, we are given a glimpse of what reality truly is. And this vision is meant to shape us. It reminds us that when we live in holiness, we are declaring His worth. When we submit our will to His, we are bowing before His throne. We honor Jesus not only with our lips but with our lives. And one day, faith will give way to sight, and we will stand in that great multitude, face to face with the King. Until then, we echo heaven’s cry: “To Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, forever and ever!” (v.13).
Questions
How does focusing on Jesus as the exalted King, rather than just the suffering Lamb, change your perspective on His authority in your daily life?
In what specific areas of your life do you find it challenging to align your will with Christ's kingship?
Application
Identify one decision you need to make or one relationship you need to navigate where you've been prioritizing your own desires or worldly perspectives. Intentionally seek to honor Jesus's lordship in that situation, remembering that every aspect of your life falls under His rule, and actively choose to submit your will to His, as an act of worship.
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the glorious vision of Christ, my reigning King. Open my eyes to His majesty, and empower me by Your Spirit to live my life that truly honor His lordship, reflecting His worth in every thought, word, and deed, until I see Him face to face. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
